DÔLE AND OTHER BLENDED WINES

Dôle, a traditional blending of Pinot Noir (the main constituent) and Gamay, has undergone a transformation in recent years. The blend must have at least 85% Pinot Noir and Gamay, with Pinot Noir dominating. It can be complemented by other red grapes (Syrah, Humagne Rouge, Cornalin and others) which enrich its complexion and add very personal notes reflecting the nature of local soils and the approach of their producers. For the pleasure of the wine-taster, the Valais has excelled in recent years in developing new blends, both red and white. It is a vast area of endeavour, and the successes obtained indicate that these wines meet the expectations of wine-lovers who are prepared to leave the well-trodden paths.
